Our class has 28 energetic and keen pupils who face every day with a smile and a determination to learn.
Our Curriculum
We explore many topics in Year 3. Our English work is linked to the novels that we read in class.
Some of our topics across this year will be:
- Rocks and geology
- Light
- Animals
- Plants
- Forces and Magnets
- Ancient Greeks
- Extreme weather
- Stone Age/Iron Age
- Map Reading/local study
- Hinduism
- How Christians Worship
- Meaning of Easter/Palm Sunday
We will also look at artists and their techniques and link some of our creative work with the topics we study.
Homework
Our homework is topic based. Currently we are working through lots of tasks related to Ancient Greece. We love to share our efforts – we also like to get our parents and carers involved!
Working on our Maths
We enjoy learning all about the mathematical systems and numbers. We especially enjoy practical maths.
We can problem solve with many tools and objects – it’s not just pencils and paper that help.
Active Literacy
We know how important it is to keep moving. So, we make sure that we move in other lessons, not just PE. We can work together to create sentences and narratives – we love sharing our ideas with each other.
Science
Measuring shadows can be lots of fun!
Exciting History
We are really loving our History topic. It was brought alive to us when we had a visit from ‘The History Lady’. We dressed up, we held artefacts and we heard tales about life in the past. It was amazing – but we are pleased that we weren’t around in those days.
