Premium Allocations

Pupil Premium

Each year the school receives an amount of money called the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG). This grant provides additional funds to school for each child who is currently, or has been at any time in the last 6 years, entitled to Free School Meals (FSM). In addition, a lesser amount is also given for pupils who are ‘Looked After’ by the Local Authority (CLA) or who are children of Her Majesty’s Forces.

The Pupil Premium totalling £137,500 has been allocated to us in our budget for 2021-2022 financial year. This includes both the Pupil Premium funding and the Recovery Premium funding allocations. Currently our level of PP is 53%.

At Silver Tree Primary, our aim is to ensure that any difference in attainment between groups of children close and all children achieve well. Whilst our main aim is to raise academic attainment, we also aim to ensure that children have a wide range of opportunities and experiences to develop confidence, self-esteem and have high aspirations.

Our Pupil Premium will be reviewed in January 2022, April 2022 and July 2022.

You can view or download our Pupil  Premium allocation and find out how this has been used at our school.

Catch-up Funding

The government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up lost time after school closure. This is especially important for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds. This funding includes:

  • a one-off universal £650 million catch up premium for the 2020 to 2021 academic year to ensure that schools have the support they need to help all pupils make up for lost teaching time
  • a £350 million National Tutoring Programme to provide additional, targeted support for those children and young people who need the most help, which includes:
    • a schools programme for 5 to 16-year-olds – for more information, see the National Tutoring Programme FAQs
    • a 16 to 19 tuition fund
    • an oral language intervention programme for reception-aged children

School allocations will be calculated on a per pupil basis.  Mainstream school will get £80 for each pupil in from reception to year 11 inclusive.

The Catch-up Funding totalling £13,680 has been allocated to us in our budget for 2020-2021 financial year.

Sports Premium

The Government is providing funding of £320 million per annum for the academic year 2020/2021 to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education and Department for digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Swim England and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

The Catch-up Funding totalling £17,580 has been allocated to us in our budget for 2020-2021 financial year.

Swimming information

In 2021, 17% of Year 6 pupils left the school meeting the national curriculum requirement to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, using a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations.Due to COVID-19, Year 6 were only able to complete 1 out of 2 of the swimming blocks. The children attended a 6-week period in the Summer term as they were unable to attend both blocks. Secondary schools are aware of this and the possible need for further swimming sessions during their time in Year 7.
