12 June 2009 - Winmarleigh Hall-Easter 2009
To celebrate our recent visit to Winmarleigh Hall we Have Produced a Picture special. As they say every Picture Tells a story and we feel that these do.
We feel sure you will not believe the antics Year 5 and 6 got up to whilst away. (There are other pictures to view in school too)
The visit began with us all meeting at school on the first day of the Easter break! 26 Children from Upper Key Stage 2 ready for the adventure of their life! The bus pulled up and everyone’s hearts began to pound—what had we let ourselves in for? After an hour and a half the bus pulled up at a restaurant where we had lunch. Then on to Winmarleigh Hall! We couldn’t believe the place! A stately home! With stately accommodation—all en’suite and the food! The food was fantastic. Over the next five days we took part in over twenty activities which included: Zip Wire, Rock Climbing, Team Challenge, Wobbly Bars, Night Line, Jacobs Ladder, Quad bikes, Archery, Fencing, The Great Egg Race, Canoeing, Absailing, Disco Dancing, Control Devices, WMHTV, Giant Swing and Shelter Building. What surprised us all were the teaching team! They are actually human and do need to sleep! They didn’t get too much of that - they were having nightmares about the activities! They took part too even Mr. Keelty! He shocked his group when he climbed to the very top of the bars! Well done sir, we could see how lily faced you were, (only joking)
Here are a few comments about the activities:
Zip Wire was Brilliant! Miss Cummings informed me. `I nearly reached the end` she bragged.
Giant swing is absolutely brilliant said Kate our groupie. She was right everyone had fun on it, although I can still hear the screams from Mr. K.
Jacobs Ladder was fun and everyone tried to climb up it.
Team Challenge was one of the best activities at Winmarleigh Hall—we all gained respect for each other!
All too soon our adventure was over! Everyone made new friends—the teaching team really helped us! This made our journey back to Ushaw Moor very sad indeed and the bus was filled with tears. Everyone from Year 5 pleaded with our surrogate Dads and Mam to let us stay—they couldn’t! But, guess what! Mr. Keelty has made a provisional booking for next year.
