Welcome to Silver Tree

Our headteacher is Mr J Trueman, who was appointed to the position in April 2008.

The children designed the school logo based on the silver tree sculptures in the village.  They also chose bottle green and yellow for the colour of their uniform.

Some children worked with an artist to make a new school sign, again based on the silver tree sculptures.

Silver Tree Primary School hopes to provide your children with seven happy years in primary education. The main purpose of this school is to provide an excellent academic and social education.

Silver Tree Primary School is concerned that all pupils develop their full potential.

• We aim to produce well-behaved and law-abiding citizens, by promoting attitudes of mutual respect and responsibility.

We attach high priority to strong links between school, home and community. We believe in a partnership between teachers, parents/guardians and child - making an extended family.

We promote:-

• Home-school reading links
• A full programme of home involvement
• A caring policy of pastoral care for all our pupils
• A new starter briefing meeting for parents or guardians and visits for children before they start school
• Consultation with teachers to discuss children´s progress
• We seek to ensure that all children are happy in school, by making them all feel part of the school community. We welcome each child to school every day, and we make sure that each child is collected safely at the end of the day.
• We encourage links with other providers in order to make the move to the next stage of education as easy as possible.
• We encourage visits by the children to the classrooms, and meetings between teachers and parents or guardians, before the children start school and move year groups.
• At Silver Tree Primary we do not neglect the basics. English, Mathematics and Scientific enquiry are fundamental to all learning, as is the development of ICT skills.
• We believe in learning tables and spellings, and doing regular practice and homework.
• We believe in striking a balance between the basics and other subjects, in order to develop children to their full potential.
• We believe in making full use of the environment i.e. our ´outdoor classroom´.
• We believe in having fun and reaching for the stars!
